Oliver Cowdery

"D&C 28: 11–16, Satan deceived Hiram Page and gave him false revelations....
Hiram Page, a member of the Church, had a certain stone and professed to be receiving revelations by its aid concerning the upbuilding of Zion and the order of the Church. Several members had been deceived by these claims, and even Oliver Cowdery was wrongly influenced thereby...  "

 
Remember:
Oliver Cowdery (1806-1850) was next in authority to Joseph Smith in 1830 (D&C 21:10-12), and was a second witness of many critical events in the restoration of the gospel. As one of the three Book of Mormon Witnesses, Oliver Cowdery testified that an angel displayed the gold plates and that the voice of God proclaimed them correctly translated. He was with Joseph Smith when John the Baptist restored to them the Aaronic Priesthood and when Peter, James, and John ordained them to the Melchizedek Priesthood and the apostleship, and again during the momentous Kirtland Temple visions (D&C 110).

George P. Lee

In 1993, the Salt Lake Tribune reported that Lee had attempted to sexually molest a minor girl in 1989, and that this was one of the reasons for Lee's excommunication. Initially, Lee denied the charges; however, on October 12, 1994, the Tribune reported: "A year ago, former Mormon general authority George P. Lee proclaimed he was 'innocent before God' of sexually molesting a 12-year-old neighbor girl. But Tuesday before a 3rd District judge, Lee humbly hung his head and admitted to touching the girl's breasts for sexual gratification .... Lee, 51, pleaded guilty to attempted sexual abuse of a child, a third-degree felony." (Former LDS General Authority)



Remember: 
George Patrick Lee was the first Native American to become a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the church's First Quorum of Seventy from 1975 to 1989, when he was excommunicated from the church. Over the years I had the opportunity meeting with Elder Lee in his office in the Administration Building on Temple Square. I'd walk by the offices of the First Presidency each time.



No One Is Immune from Satan's Power

Over the years I've met Bishops, High Councilmen, College Professors, Fathers, Mothers etc. etc. who  have been successfully tempted and deceived by Satan. “Satan hath sought to deceive YOU, that he might overthrow YOU” (see D&C 50:2–3). He is often successful. :(

"No one is immune from Satan’s power. Even the Savior was sorely tempted by him three different times, and each time refused to submit to his deceitful temptations. As part of our test, we also may be subjected to temptation as was Christ, for the Lord has said: “And it must needs be that the devil should tempt the children of men, or they could not be agents unto themselves; for if they never should have bitter they could not know the sweet.” (D&C 29:39.) Be aware and warned of the subtle workings of Satan, for he never stops trying to lead us astray. He is an expert on making things seem appealing and right, when actually they can bring about our moral destruction. He does not believe in free agency, and would like to control our minds, thoughts, and acts. We can see his workings more and more in the movies, television shows, magazines, and in the actions of men and nations. If our thoughts are turned to sensual things, we will be strongly tempted to use our free agency wrongfully." (Using Our Free Agency, Delbert L. Stapley, April 1975)

Challenge
Identify Satan's most likely target for his "Fiery Darts"(Eph 6:16) - for you personally - what thoughts, behaviors or attitudes ... can Satan most easily use to distract you from returning home to our Heavenly Father.
